Shows & Conferences

Don’t know what to do with your spare time? I have three suggestions: First, there are a number of conferences you can attend. Mystery conferences give you a chance to participate on a panel, give a talk, or, if you are unable to attend, send promotional material for the information table. Second, if your publisher plans to have a booth at a regional bookseller association show, volunteer to help out in the booth. Of, if your local chapter of Sisters in Crime plans to have a booth, volunteer to help man the booth. Third, book fairs and festivals take place all over the country. Find one in your area and contact the organizers. Some fairs require that you have a title released in the last year. Some require that you go through a submission process first. For library conferences, they sometimes host author luncheons with a signing afterwards. In the past, Sisters in Crime has had a booth at the American Library Association conference and the BookExpo. It’s a good time to talk to the librarians or booksellers about your latest book, and if available, hand out some ARCs. You will notice that some events do not have a firm date yet. As soon as a date is scheduled, I will revise the list. Unfortunately, I don’t have a link to these organizations so you will have to google til your heart’s content.
